Trusted relationships are everything.
It’s no different for business teams. Have you found yourself wishing you had a better relationship with your legal department, you aren’t alone. It turns out the status of y our relationship with Legal likely depends on the department you’re in.
The Enterprise Legal Relationship (ELR) Report – a third-party, multinational study of 4,000 enterprise employees and 500 corporate legal professionals across the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Germany – found that while the majority (77%) of enterprise employees believe that Legal is exceptional at negotiating on the behalf of their companies, less than one in five (19%) feels Legal prioritizes its internal clients. Perhaps even more alarmingly, four in 10 employees (40%) do not classify their relationships with Legal as “ very good” or even simply “good” – and the status of relationships varies dramatically across the enterprise.
So what accounts for this disconnect among departments? And what can be done to change it?
