Eric M. Elfman

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

Eric is passionate about building great software companies. He’s a serial entrepreneur founding four companies in the last 25 years, two of which have been software startups.

At Onit, Eric oversees the company’s overall strategic direction, planning and execution. Previously, he served as an entrepreneur in residence for the Houston Technology Center (HTC), a business accelerator for Houston-based emerging technology companies.

Eric’s first software start-up, Datacert, Inc., is an industry-leading provider of corporate, legal and IP spend and matter management solutions for Fortune 500 companies. During his more than ten years as the CEO, president and chairman of the board, he grew the company to $28 million in revenue and secured more than 100 Fortune 500 customers. Under his leadership, Datacert became one of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America with three consecutive listings on the Inc. 500.

Prior to Datacert, Eric co-founded PeerPoint Technologies, where his work helped identify new technology for e-invoice data management. Eric is a pioneer in the creation of the Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard (LEDES) and is an authority on the Uniform Task Based Management System (UTBMS).

In 2002, he was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for emerging technology. Eric has a bachelor’s degree in English literature and earned an MBA from Rice University. He is a member of the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and serves as a board member for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana, a non-profit organization that grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Eric Smith

Co-founder, COO & Chief Security Officer

Eric Smith brings extensive experience in software development and technical leadership to Onit. With nearly twenty years of experience in the legal technology industry, he has broad domain experience in the legal electronic invoicing and spend management arena. As Onit’s co-founder, COO and Chief Security Officer, he is responsible for the technical and strategic direction of the company’s products.

Prior to Onit, he co-founded Datacert, a leading provider of corporate, legal and IP spend and matter management solutions, serving as the CTO for nearly 10 years. During his tenure at Datacert, he was a key member of the executive team that assisted with growing the company to more than 200 employees and was responsible for managing the overall technical architecture of the company’s products and services.

He was also instrumental in providing cross-functional direction and leadership for research and development initiatives, product development and managing a complex and globally distributed workforce.

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University.

York Richards

Chief Financial Officer

York Richards brings more than 15 years of finance and operations experience to Onit, including CFO positions at several privately held companies in the Internet and technology industries. He has built large, multi-national finance organizations, completed many strategic acquisitions and divestitures, raised capital in debt and equity markets and managed multiple shareholder exits.

A seasoned executive with extensive experience managing finance organizations for high-growth companies, he most recently served as CFO at Riversand Technologies, Inc. where he was responsible for overall financial operations and reporting. As CFO at Onit, York is responsible for ensuring the finance organization can help the company drive growth while capitalizing on the accelerating demand for software solutions that drive efficiency and process automation.

York holds a master’s degree in science and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.

Chris Fields

Chief Technology Officer

Chris Fields joined Onit with more than 25 years of technology research and software development experience, including several key management and executive positions at various high-growth companies, including Datacert, Digicontract and Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions.

Chris most recently served as CTO for Innovative Interfaces where he led the engineering and product management team and was responsible for converting client/server-based technologies into a multi-tenant system leveraging cloud-based microservices for global library systems. He is well-versed in leading technology strategy and all aspects of product engineering and was one of the key inventors named on a patent of a high-profile technology platform.

As CTO at Onit, Chris will be responsible for overseeing the technical vision of the company and leading product research, engineering and development efforts. He will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure and ensuring technologies are used efficiently and securely. Additionally, he will build quality assurance and data protection processes and communicate the company’s technology strategy to our consulting and business partners and customers.

Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Baylor University.

Neil Wu Becker

Chief Marketing Officer

Neil Wu Becker is an award-winning marketing executive who has led global teams at a variety of IT, security and enterprise software firms – from Dow Jones Component and bellwether stock companies to small-caps and pre-IPO unicorns. As CMO of Onit, he leads all aspects of marketing, including developing and executing strategies to grow the company’s brand and business at scale.

His previous experience includes acting as CMO at Behavox, where he established the marketing function for the early-stage compliance and security company. At Quote-to-Cash CPQ/CLM provider Apttus, he served as Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, evolved the company’s brand and transitioned demand generation to an integrated marketing model designed for growth at scale. Other marketing leadership positions for Neil include Executive Vice President of publicly traded A10 Networks and Vice President of Marketing at Armor Defense.

Earlier in his career, Neil led marketing communications and PR teams at some of the world’s largest tech companies. He led various teams for Cisco, providing market visibility for more than half of the Dow Jones component’s business. While there, he was named one of the industry’s top-15 tech PR professionals. In addition to Cisco, Neil served as the head of worldwide PR at bellwether memory chip maker Micron Technology and head of marketing communications at cybersecurity firm Trend Micro.

Neil has a B.A. in English from the University of California, Davis, and a M.S. in mass communications from San Jose State University.

Matt DenOuden

Senior Vice President, Sales

Matt DenOuden has nearly 30 years of legal industry experience, including a dozen years practicing law as a partner in a boutique defense firm in Hartford, Connecticut. While there, he started and grew an early e-discovery technology practice. In 2002, he left private practice to join a young e-billing company, TyMetrix. As vice president of sales for TyMetrix for 14 years, he helped take the company from four clients and $2 million in revenue to 250 clients and $60 million in revenue.

Matt has spent his career working with clients and industry leaders and has a passion for developing solutions to manage the business of law. Most recently, he was a managing director at Huron Consulting (now Consilio) where he worked closely with legal operations leaders around the country as they devised operational strategies and technology roadmaps for their law departments.

Matt has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Hartford and a J.D. from The University of Connecticut School of Law.

Brad Rogers

Senior Vice President of Strategy & Growth

Brad Rogers joins Onit’s executive leadership team with more than 27 years of transformation, process excellence, strategic planning and legal operations leadership experience. As Senior Vice President of Strategy & Growth, Brad focuses on developing, communicating, executing and sustaining corporate strategic initiatives. Leaning on his wealth of executive experience, he also bridges traditional departmental silos across the company to perfect internal alignment as it applies to revenue growth.

Before joining Onit, Brad served as Chief Operations Officer and Chief of Staff for Advocacy and Oversight at a Fortune 100 global financial services company with more than $1 trillion in assets under management and 14,000 employees globally. While there, he had a leadership role in building legal operations capabilities designed to drive productivity and cost reductions. Before that, Brad was Managing Director for Process Excellence, Reengineering and  transformation at TIAA and held key executive positions at Bank of America, GE and JP Morgan Chase.

Brad holds an MBA in Competitive Strategy and Quantitative Methods from Fordham University, a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master Black Belt in Six Sigma Quality and Change Management (GE Certified).

Nick Whitehouse

General Manager of the Onit AI Center of Excellence

Nick Whitehouse constantly pushes the boundaries of innovation, with dedicated experience in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. As General Manager of the Onit AI Center of Excellence, he develops and executes AI strategy and innovation throughout Onit’s platforms and products.

His career to date has seen him tackle the challenges of disruption, pioneering digital transformation across several industries, from Television to telecommunications and, most recently, law. He has also won numerous recognitions along the way, including the title of 2019 IDC DX Leader of the Year and Talent’s Most Disruptive Leader Award, as judged by Sir Richard Branson and Steve Wozniak.

Nick joined Onit through an acquisition of the company he co-founded, McCarthyFinch. The company developed and launched a legal AI platform that augmented and automated legal processes. Before that, he held the role of chief digital officer at the top tier law firm MinterEllisonRuddWatts. As one of the first law firm CDOs in the world, he was responsible for the overall technology environment and led the firm’s digital vision, strategy and innovation, resulting in the firm being recognized as the most innovative law firm in the country.

His experience has centered on technological transformation, with his previous jobs focused on digitizing analog broadcasts, putting 4G on buses and WIFIs in stadiums and creating public cloud access in New Zealand. He holds an ITIL V3 Certification.

Jean Yang

Vice President of the Onit AI Center of Excellence

Jean Yang, vice president of the Onit AI Center of Excellence, has a background in building businesses and solutions that improve how law is practiced and accessed. In her role at Onit, she applies her extensive experience and dedication to innovation to continue the AI evolution of Onit and its products.

She was named Emerging ICT Leader of the Year 2019 and regularly presents on the topics of legal technology and AI. She is also the founding executive of LegalTech NZ, an organization that facilitates the development and adoption of advancing legal technology in New Zealand.

Yang was a solicitor at a commercial law firm, MinterEllisonRuddWatts, where she started automating repetitive aspects of her own work with code. From there, Jean left the traditional legal career to become the COO and VP of Legal Services at AI contract management software provider McCarthyFinch (acquired by Onit in 2020). She helped build the business from infancy to acquisition and lead product and technology development.

Jean has a bachelor of law and bachelor of commerce from the University of Auckland and is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.

Cole Morgan

Vice President of Operations

Cole Morgan has more than 20 years of management experience in the legal technology and legal operations industries. At Onit, Cole is responsible for Strategic Alliances, including the Onit Partner Program, Training & Certification and the Managed Services offerings. Prior to joining Onit, Cole was the director of legal business operations for a Global 500 petrochemical corporation where he was responsible for the management of business operations for corporate legal and public affairs.

Cole began his career as an early-stage venture participant in Datacert and ultimately served as vice president of professional services. He also served as a management consultant to large corporate legal departments.

Cole graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and earned his MBA at Rice University.

Scott Kurtz

Senior Vice President, Services

With more than two decades of professional services experience in software and finance, Scott Kurtz is responsible for client implementations and helping build capability for serving customers as Onit continues to grow its customer base.

Scott has a wealth of executive and professional services experience including technology management, business and consulting operations, business process consulting, professional services and contract management.

Scott’s broad and varied background includes serving as the EVP of global professional services at Openlink, where he was responsible for driving professional services sales and managing professional services globally. Prior to that, he was vice president of professional services at Amphora, where he maintained executive relationships for product implementations and managed energy trading software implementations. During his career, Scott also held several key management and executive financial positions at various high-growth companies.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.


Stasha Jain

Senior General Counsel

Stasha Jain has been practicing law for more than 15 years, the majority of which has been as in-house counsel. She is currently senior general counsel at Onit where she is responsible for all legal support for Onit and its affiliates.

Stasha and her team work closely with the Onit leadership team and other key stakeholders to efficiently deliver legal services, including contract management, compliance, data privacy, and other areas of significant company-wide impact. Incidentally, she also enjoys using Onit tools to help her team run an efficient legal department.

Stasha’s rich experience and background includes serving as senior legal counsel at ZS Associates, Inc., a boutique consulting firm, and corporate counsel at Hewitt Associates (now known as Alight Solutions), a human resources outsourcing firm.

Stasha received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from the University of Michigan.

Jill Black

Vice President of Marketing

Jill Black is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with nearly 20 years of experience delivering marketing, communication and branding results for software and technology companies.

As VP of Marketing at Onit, she is responsible for the management and execution of all aspects of the marketing function including demand generation, messaging and brand awareness, email marketing and public and analyst relations. Additional responsibilities include guiding the development of premium content, overseeing the budget, analyzing campaign metrics and evolving the Onit brand globally to highlight the company’s innovative value proposition.

Previously, she served as senior marketing manager at Vignette Software, a global leader in enterprise content management.  Prior to Vignette, she served as the director of marketing for Datacert, a leading provider of corporate, legal and IP spend and matter management solutions, and drove the strategic planning and execution of all corporate marketing programs in the United States, Canada and Europe.

In 2008, she was recognized by the Business Marketing Association (BMA) with the Business-to-Business (B2B) Marketer of the Year award. Under her leadership at Datacert, the marketing team won numerous marketing, communication and public relations awards during her tenure.

Jill graduated from Northern Arizona University with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a minor in Speech Communication.

John Gilman

Vice President of Products

John Gilman brings more than 20 years of experience in new product development in the legal industry. At Onit, he is responsible for the product roadmap and helps drive product strategy, direction, prioritization and pricing to drive customer growth and revenue.

With a background in law and experience in user design, agile software development methodologies and continuous quality improvement, John brings a unique set of skills to problem-solving in the legal domain. Over the last decade, John has designed commercial software applications and solutions used daily by attorneys and support staff at the largest law departments and law firms in the world. These applications are used to process billions of dollars in legal invoices annually. John’s professional experience includes new product research and development, product management and time spent practicing insurance defense law.

Prior to Onit, John served in various strategic roles at Datacert, a leading provider of corporate, legal and IP spend and matter management solutions. During his seven-year tenure, he served as the vice president of operations, director of research and development and director of product management.

John has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Purdue University and a J.D. from the University of Kansas.

Mary Fuzat

Vice President of Product Management

Mary Fuzat joins the Onit executive team with over 20 years of software company leadership experience, primarily in customer-impacting leadership roles. As Onit’s Vice President of Product Management, Mary lends her broad leadership background in product management to lead the overall product team. Her specialties include product management and integration, cross-functional team leadership and business process optimization.

Before joining Onit, Mary was the senior director of managed services at Insite360 (formerly FuelQuest, LLC). While there, she oversaw new product launches and services and drove the integration of disparate solutions across multiple companies and technology platforms. Mary also led product management teams, stood up and scaled 24×7 operations for new offerings and implemented Lean Startup methodologies for mature software product lines to double revenue growth. She has served as product manager for both software startup companies and Fortune 500 companies, which enables her to provide a leadership mindset that blends innovation and process to drive customer-focused business growth.

Mary holds a BS in management and a BA in Spanish and international business as a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Arizona State University.

Bernie Barcio

Vice President of Engineering

Bernie Barcio has more than 20 years of software development experience with more than half of that time in startup environments. As Onit’s Vice President of Engineering, Bernie is responsible for the analysis, development, testing, and deployment processes involved in software delivery. Bernie has specialized in building teams and right-sizing processes with a focus on efficiently delivering software to users. He firmly believes in the ability of communication and an empowered team to drive success.

Bernie has spent the last ten years in the legal technology industry. Bernie’s first experience with a software development team was at a startup in which he developed core capabilities and visualization of a distributed system toolkit.

Bernie holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Rice University,  and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

David Gray

Vice President of Global Human Resources

David Gray brings over 20 years of management and executive experience in human resources, with a solid background of progressive HR responsibility across Fortune 50, technology and financial services companies. His specialty areas include organizational review and redesign, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefit design.

At Onit, David brings a strategic vision to worldwide HR operations to accelerate areas such as staff development, performance management and employee morale. He also works closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to assure the company advances its business, brings in and retains top talent and further embeds its core values and dynamic culture.

David’s broad background includes multiple leadership roles in human resources. He served as Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Envoy Mortgage, where he established HR strategies necessary to align with corporate goals. Before that, he was senior vice president of global human resources at Openlink Financial, where he led and influenced from a strategic and operational level in achieving business goals.

David holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA from Louisiana Tech University.

Vignesh Ramamurthy

General Manager and Vice President of India Operations

Vignesh Ramamurthy has direct responsibility for all of the functions operating in Pune, India. With more than 20 years of experience in the legal domain, his vision and strategy effectively strengthens Onit’s presence in the region. As India becomes even more strategic towards building capacity for Onit’s acquisitions, Vignesh’s software development experience in the legal domain and understanding the company’s Fortune 500 customers plays a pivotal role in this position.

Most recently, Vignesh was at Indix Corporation Inc., a Seattle based startup, building data solutions for analytics around product information on the cloud, where he served as a vice president of engineering. Prior to that, he was the general manager and vice president of India operations for Highradius Inc., an accounts receivable SAAS startup based out of Houston. In this role, he had accountability for building operations in Hyderabad for a 300-member development center supporting all the departments in the United States and EMEA.

Vignesh also held key executive and management positions at several other high-growth companies including Datacert, where he was responsible for building the India operations in Chennai as a vice president from Houston until 2013.

Vignesh has a master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Mark Weidick

Senior General Manager, SimpleLegal, An Onit Company

Mark Weidick has more than 24 years of executive and entrepreneurial experience. His extensive experience includes creating and growing businesses through expertise in go-to-market strategy, customer acquisition, organizational performance, product development, new business development and negotiation. At SimpleLegal, Mark is responsible for overall business operations with a focus on value creation and growth.

Before SimpleLegal, Mark was CEO of hiQ Labs, an AI company applying machine learning to public information. He has held several executive leadership roles where he contributed to notable successes, including the growth of Cisco’s TelePresence video business from startup to $1B and the $420M acquisition of Savi Technology. He was also co-founder of TenHands, a video-as-a-service company for collaboration, web and mobile application developers.

Mark holds an MBA from Boston College, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University.

Will Reynolds

General Manager, SecureDocs, an Onit Company

Will Reynolds is the co-founder and general manager of SecureDocs, an Onit subsidiary and cutting-edge software company based in Santa Barbara. A strategic and innovative thinker with a penchant for leading from the front, Will has a 17-year career in software as a service, beginning in a sales role at Citrix Online in 2005. He moved to AppFolio in 2008, where he was director of sales and an early leader in developing a sales motion for its newly launched products, including, in 2012, SecureDocs Virtual Data Room.

Will led the spinout of SecureDocs from AppFolio in 2014 and has overseen all aspects of the business strategy since, including the launch of ContractWorks and ReadySign prior to the company’s acquisition by Onit.

Will holds a BA from Southampton University, UK.

Yuriy Zaremba

General Manager, AXDRAFT, an Onit Company

Yuriy Zaremba has more than a decade of experience related to legal technology, entrepreneurship and practicing law. As General Manager of AXDRAFT, an Onit Company, he is responsible for overall business operations with a focus on enhancing value and growth.

He comes to Onit from the company he co-founded and led, AXDRAFT. AXDRAFT, acquired by Onit in 2020, provides document generation that allows corporate legal departments to draft contracts like NDAs and service agreements up to 10 times faster and complete legal documents in less than five minutes. While there, he raised investments from Y Combinator and top Silicon Valley and European venture capital firms and negotiated and signed contracts from enterprise customers, including Sandoz, Louis Dreyfus Company, Carlsberg and OLX.

Yuriy’s career as a lawyer inspired him to start AXDRAFT. He practiced law at AVELLUM, a leading, full-service law firm in Ukraine, where he advised on deals with values ranging from $20 million to $40 billion, including M&A transactions, loans and IPOs. During his time there, he experienced first-hand the inefficiency and repetition of drafting routine contracts and envisioned a better approach to drafting legal documents with technology.

He has a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Faculty of Law from Ivan Franko Lviv National University.

Raj Goyle

CEO, Bodhala, an Onit Company

Raj Goyle is CEO of Onit’s subsidiary Bodhala, a legal spend analytics, benchmarking and market intelligence company. He has more than two decades of experience in the legal industry, politics and entrepreneurship. Goyle and his co-founders started Bodhala with a passion for reforming the law and a bold but simple mission: to create a transparent, functional market for legal services. They wanted to reshape the industry to reflect a true free market economy.

Before founding the company, Goyle served two terms in the Kansas House of Representatives, making him the first Asian American elected to office in Kansas history. He also worked as a policy analyst and civil rights attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for American Progress.

A leading voice in legal tech, he is frequently cited on investment, diversity and legal spend issues in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider and Law.com. He remains dedicated to public service, advising and supporting numerous nonprofit organizations. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Duke University.

Goyle earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Michael Tal

Co-CEO, BusyLamp, An Onit Company

Dr. Michael Tal is co-CEO and co-founder of BusyLamp, an Onit subsidiary, overseeing sales, product management and professional services. The renowned and innovative company specializes in legal operations software for European legal departments. A passionate legal technology entrepreneur and attorney, Michael co-founded BusyLamp with fellow lawyer Manuel Meder and technology developer Konstantin Tadrowski. Together, they brought the benefits of digitalization to in-house counsel in Europe with award-winning and easy-to-use legal spend, e-billing and matter management SaaS products.

He has more than 12 years of legal industry experience and has worked within the corporate law and M&A departments of both Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and White & Case LLP.

Michael has a law degree and Ph.D. from Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt am Main and was a research fellow in law at Oxford University.

Manuel Meder

Co-CEO, BusyLamp, An Onit Company

Dr. Manuel Meder is co-CEO and co-founder of Onit’s subsidiary BusyLamp, a ground-breaking legal operations software company established in Frankfurt, Germany. A strategic and innovative thinker and entrepreneur, Manuel co-founded BusyLamp in 2012 to offer a SaaS-based, efficient enterprise legal management to help legal departments reduce overhead and collaborate more effectively with inside and outside counsel.

Manuel has more than 12 years of legal industry experience, including practicing as a lawyer in international law firms like Allen & Overy in the corporate/M&A practice area. At BusyLamp, Manuel is responsible for customer success, marketing, HR and finance.

Manuel has a law degree and Ph.D. from Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt am Main and was a research fellow in law at the University of California, Berkeley.

Konstantin Tadrowski

CTO, BusyLamp, An Onit Company

Konstantin Tadrowski serves as CTO of Onit’s subsidiary BusyLamp, a premier provider of legal spend and matter management software for European corporate legal departments. An entrepreneurial leader in technology, automation and development, Konstantin co-founded BusyLamp in 2012 to help legal departments reap the benefits of sophisticated sourcing, fee tracking, matter management, e-billing, analytics and reporting.

Before co-founding BusyLamp, Konstantin worked in technology as a developer. At BusyLamp, Konstantin is responsible for software development, quality assurance, system administration and development operations.
