HOUSTON, TX — (MARKETWIRE) — 10/01/12 — Onit, a leading provider of business productivity and process management Apps, today announced that is has opened an office in Austin, Texas. The brick-and-mortar expansion is the result of the company’s accelerated growth and the market demand for business Apps that expedite and streamline a wide range of day-to-day activities such as contract review and approval, employee onboarding and matter intake.

“This expanded presence in Texas is another result of our strategic plan for Onit, its Apps and its continued and consistent growth,” said Eric M. Leading Law Departments Share Advantages of Good Legal Process at Inaugural Law Department Operations Roundtable

CHICAGO, IL — (MARKETWIRE) — 09/28/12 — The inaugural Law Department Operations Roundtable took place on September 10 at the headquarters of CDW in Vernon Hills, IL and included presentations from some of the leading thinkers involved in law department operations, including David Cambria of CDW, Ted Jankowski and Mark Barron of Johnson Controls and Paul Zengilowski of Onit. The session was sponsored by Onit, a leading provider of business productivity and process management Apps.

Attendees were intrigued by three presentations. Paul Zengilowski led off with a discussion of the history of law department operations, where he pointed out that chief legal officers have been facing the same two biggest challenges — managing the law department’s workload and workflow — for the past 25 years. He foreshadowed the presentations to follow by suggesting the next wave of technology innovation for law departments will look beyond traditional matter and spend management systems and be focused on process initiatives that impact client service and attorney productivity directly.

David Cambria followed with a discussion focusing on the differences between systems of record, which host processes, and systems of engagement, which touch people. Cambria explained that systems of engagement are the future of technology-led innovation involving high levels of communication amongst the most valuable workers a company possesses. He also discussed CDW’s initiative to leverage data from their system of record to improve client service, and compliance with company and partner business programs.

Finally, Ted Jankowski and Mark Barron concluded with a case study on their experience with process improvement within Johnson Controls’ legal department. JCI is currently in the execution phase of its Legal Quality Improvement Plan which was initiated in 2008. To date, they have piloted, tested or are in development on 25 Onit Apps. The legal team has seen improved lawyer and non-lawyer engagement in predictable processes that focus on results. Additionally, JCI has seen improved accountability across these transactions and enthusiastic adoption among lawyers, largely due to the simplicity and flexibility of the Apps.

“Our goal is to help law department operations managers understand the value and implications of a focus on legal process and provide them with actionable ideas they can implement right away,” said Paul Zengilowski, Onit. “David, Ted and Mark highlighted innovative, yet real-world process initiatives that are driving significant business benefits within their organizations. Their results strongly suggest that legal process improvements greatly impact operational efficiency and enhance delivery and execution capabilities of attorneys and professional staff.”

Onit plans to launch additional events under the Legal Department Operations Roundtable umbrella. For more information, please visit http://www.legaldepartmentoperations.com.

Onit Unveils Legal and Governance, Risk & Compliance Apps at LegalTech(R) New York 2012

NEW YORK, NY — (MARKETWIRE) — 01/30/12 — Onit, a leading provider of business productivity and process management apps, today unveiled new apps at LegalTech New York 2012® for Legal and Governance, Risk & Compliance departments. Designed to help business and legal teams become more efficient at what they do, Onit Apps streamline operations, automate processes, drive control costs and help reduce company risk.

Onit Apps bring consumer-like application simplicity to the business enterprise. Process is inherent in everything a company does. Onit Apps are designed for business managers that need more than email and spreadsheets to automate, manage and track business-critical processes.

“Onit Apps are different than other business process tools in the market today,” commented Eric M. Elfman, CEO of Onit. “They are built to deliver real value to the business user and designed to simplify business processes like contract review and approval, NDA requests, ethics violations, whistleblower reports, IP infringement, etc. Onit Apps are unique in that they let business users consume and interact with data in a way that is familiar to them, similar to the way they engage with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.”

Onit Legal Apps

Processes are integral in every department and legal is no exception. Onit’s Legal Apps can be tailored for any legal process and are designed specifically for the business user — not IT. Some of the compelling features include real-time notifications, custom templates, flexible workflow, easy-to-use checklists and collaboration features. Today, Onit has Apps for the following processes:

Onit Governance, Risk & Compliance Apps

Ethics and compliance policies are necessary to minimize a company’s risk and exposure. As companies struggle to do “more” with fewer resources, Onit’s Apps can bridge the gap to make compliance easier, more consistent and effective. Unfortunately, human-driven processes leave an organization exposed to risk and potential lawsuits. Onit’s Apps were designed to mitigate these claims by simplifying and automating the process. Onit’s Governance, Risk & Compliance Apps include:

Pricing & Availability

Onit’s Legal and Governance, Risk & Compliance Apps are available immediately and pricing is based on a monthly subscription. Onit Apps are cloud-based so there is no software to install or expensive upfront investment. Demos of all the apps will be shown during the LegalTech New York 2012 tradeshow in the Cyber Café Monday, January 30 – Wednesday, February 1.
